The direct thermal process is a new technology that prolongs the life of the thermal strip: The thermal strip is raised in the areas of the label that are not printed. Another features that saves money: the transfer ribbon in the thermal transfer printing process is only fed when a printing operation is actually carried out. Depending on the label design, this system leads to significant reductions in the consumption of transfer ribbons - a definite cost benefit.
